A Home Health Aide (HHA) is a trained, non-medical caregiver who helps patients with daily personal care at home, under a nurse's supervision - certified through Texas's required 75-hour training program.
Personal Assistance Services (PAS)
Personal Assistance Services (PAS) is a non-medical care category under Texas's HCSSA license, providing help with daily activities like bathing, dressing, and mobility - without clinical or nursing tasks - to individuals in their home or independent living setting.
Primary Home Care
Primary Home Care (PHC) is a Texas Medicaid program that provides non-technical, medically related personal care - like bathing, dressing, and toileting help - to Medicaid-eligible adults with functional limitations, delivered through licensed HCSSA agencies.
Community-Based Alternatives Program
The Community-Based Alternatives (CBA) Program was a Texas Medicaid waiver that let aged, blind, or disabled individuals needing nursing-facility-level care receive services at home or in assisted living instead. Note: it's now a legacy term - Texas closed CBA in 2014 and folded its services into the STAR+PLUS Medicaid waiver.
